KAP Village Launch, Film Festival & Cultural Diplomacy Mission
In April 2025, I travelled to Lagos for the landmark launch of KAP Village — a major development in African filmmaking and storytelling. The project represents a bold new chapter for Nigeria’s creative economy: a space designed to train emerging filmmakers, elevate African cinema, and build a home for world-class content rooted in our own narratives.
The visit coincided with a film festival curated around the launch, bringing together directors, producers, actors, and industry leaders from across the continent. It was an opportunity to witness the future of African storytelling up close — and to contribute to conversations about how cinema, culture, and entrepreneurship can accelerate economic growth across West Africa.
Beyond the festival, the mission included high-level strategic meetings with state politicians, cultural leaders, and government officials, exploring pathways for collaboration in tourism, music, film, and cross-border creative exchange. These discussions highlighted the role of soft power and cultural infrastructure in shaping Nigeria’s global influence.
Lagos has always been a centre of African creativity — raw, electric, and full of possibility. This mission reinforced the importance of supporting spaces like KAP Village that are investing in the continent’s next generation of storytellers, innovators, and cultural leaders.
